SOCIAL PROGRAMS OUR MISSION: IT IS THE MISSION OF THE HEALTH AND SOCIAL SERVICES DEPARTMENT TO VALUE, RESPECT AND TO TREAT VGFN CITIZENS EQUALLY WHILE PROVIDING PROGRAMS AND SERVICES.

Director, Health and Social Programs – Glenna Tetlichi
The Director oversees the department and ensures accountability to VGFN citizens. We also deliver programs and services from our Brighter Futures and Building Healthy Communities Workplan for children, youths and adults on various components such as healthy babies, injury prevention, mental health, parenting skills, traditional/cultural teachings, others. Office hours are from 9:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday. This program is funded by MSB and is in the process of being devolved down to VGFN.

Community Wellness Worker – Jayne Taylor
The NNADAP Worker does one on one counseling, referrals, and assessments for clients seeking treatment. This service also is available to those returning from treatment to help with support services and aftercare program. NNADAP office hours are from 9:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday. NNADAP is presently funded by MSB and is in the process of being devolved down to VGFN.

Social Administrator – Kathie Nukon
This program is presently delivered to VGFN citizens residing in Old Crow and consists of the Elders Wood Program, Social Assistance, and Adult Care for Elders. . Office hours are from 9:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday. This program is funded by VGFN through our SGA/FTA.

Community Health Representative – Marion Schafer
The CHR’s office is located at the Old Crow Health Center. This program is to promote and develop health education to community groups, conducting health education workshops for VGFN members. Assisting in health clinics and act as an interpreter on home visits to Elders and patients. . Office hours are from 9:00am – 4:30pm Monday to Friday. CHR is presently funded by MSB and is in the process of being devolved down to VGFN.

Native Court Worker, Joe Tetlichi
The Court Worker is responsible for attending all regular court sessions in the region, be available to provide assistance and/or obtain legal assistance and/or counseling for the client; work closely with private and government agencies, and court personnel, and the RCMPolice.  Office hours are from 1:00pm – 5:00pm Monday to Friday. This program is funded by YTG.

Community Education Liaison Co-ordinator - Old Crow, Mable Tetlichi
Community Education Liaison Co-ordinator - Whitehorse, Kim Rumley
The CELC is responsible for implementing and promoting education within the native community and implementing VGFN education policies. Providing administration functions for the program, guidance and counseling to native students regarding their educational requirements, personal and other problems. Office hours are from 8:30am to 3:00pm Monday to Friday during the school year. September to June.
