Here are the news from Old Crow.
The weather is not so good sometimes it is cloudy and no sunshine for a while. First time it was snow in September and it was cold but not so cold. And also the ice is on the river and people pull their boat up the bank.
Old Crow is not many people about 13 Elders in Old Crow and most the kids. In way back around 1959 they build a school for the kids and it burn down. And next they build a new school up above Old Crow so that where kids go to school. They learn lots of things the two women to teach them their own language in Gwitchin. Some of them understand little. From Old Crow up river about second Island they build a cabin that is where they take kids up to learn about in the bush. Teach them how to cut wood and make fire and same time they teach them their language how to say things and tell them story about long ago and how to call the animals name. So they doing very good and start to understand their language. They even show them how to set trap and also how to set rabbit snare. And when they see snare they take rabbit out of snare, and show them how to skin it to. In school they teach them lots of things the girls show them how to cook and also how to sew. It will be nice their mother and their father could teach them at home so they will learn quick.
First time this summer no king salmon and very few white fish and some dog salmon. Not only that the caribou never come around it do but not so close to town. The caribou cross up river and the boys go up river but never see any just some time they get two or three caribou. Caribou cross up river around drift wood and cross down river. But even that people get meat for the winter. When people get caribou and woman start to dry and they make bone grease. And tan the skin for sewing every thing they use out of caribou. So when no caribou come around people feel bad but later on it come back so people sure happy for it. I started to write news from 1964 and I still write news to Whitehorse Star. I really enjoy to write and I was happy to sent my news out so people could read about Old Crow. So people like how Old Crow is and also weather. People get use to caribou meat and can go without wild meat. Elders and kids they like to eat meat so we wish to see more caribou this fall.
In way back when election come up and people vote for Mr. Trudeau and all of them is pass away long ago and now he could met all his friends in heaven and enjoy with them. To bad he left in silent and all we have to say prayer for his family. Thanks for he did a good job for the people and help good many way. We don't expect to hear sad news for Trudeau and he pass away. He will have a good resting place. So we will remember him in our prayer. I say thank you for his good kindness to every body. Every body miss him very much because he do good to people.
